harvesting

How does it Work?

Piezoelectricity is the electric
charge
that
accumulates
in
certain solid materials (such as
crystals and certain ceramics) in
response to applied mechanical
stress. The word piezoelectricity
means electricity resulting from
pressure.

Enhanced piezoelectric effect. 400500% enhancement

of the piezoelectric effect was predicted due to the
flexoelectric effect, when a strain gradient is experienced by
a ferroelectric NW with a thickness of a few tens of
nanometers.
Superior mechanical properties. The lattice perfection of
Ws enables much larger critical strain, higher flexibility, and
longer operational lifetime.
High sensitivity to small forces. Large aspect ratio and
small thickness allow the creation of significant strain in the
NWs under a force at the nano-Newton or even pico-Newton
level.

al market value for piezoelectric energy harvesters 2012-2023:

Market for power generation through piezoelectric
materials generate earnings of $ 823.8 million dollars
in 10 years.
Innowattech have estimated that over 600 vehicles
traveling at 72 miles per hour on average on a road
with piezoelectric generators installed along 1
kilometer would produce 200 kilowatts per hour.
Thus, gains half a million dollars would be obtained
in a period of between 3 and 6 years, recovering the
investment made for the installation of 6,250
generators.
