What is flooding
Floods occur when a river gets more
water than its channel can hold. So
water flows over the banks (sides) onto
the flood plain (land around the river)

What increases the chance of


flooding?
- Impermeable rock (rock that water cant
soak through)
- Hard dry soil
- Very wet soil
- Steep slopes
- Cutting down trees
- Building in the drainage basin
