EPIDERMIC OINT., are intended to act solely on the surface of skin


to produce local effect

ENDODEMIC OINT; are intended to release medication that pegh


-trate into but not through the skin.
-partially absorbed and act as *emollient, *stimulan
*proliferants,*local irritants
DIADERMIC OINT; are intended to release medication that passes
through the skin and produse systemic effect.
OPHTHALMIC OINT; must be sterile preparation, according to
official standarts

PASTES are stiff ointment-like preparation containing a


large quantity of such powder as Zinc oxide oe starch.

O/W emulsion is preferred for internal use.


W/O emulsion usually designated as a lotion or cream is
generally used for external application.
The advantages: 1*unpleasent taste or noxious odor of the
oil is partially or completely disguised
2*the oil being in a finely dispersed state,
is more readily assimilated by the body.
3*W/O cream have greater emolient effect
and their therapeutic action is miller and more prolonged.

Jelly *are viscid, semisolid preparations usually made
