Ethics has to do with what


my feelings tell me is right
or wrong.
Ethics has to do with my
religious beliefs.
Being ethical is doing what
the law requires
Ethics consists of the
standards of behavior our
society accepts.

Origin: The word Ethics is derived from


Greek word thik
Ethics refers to well-founded standards of
right and wrong that prescribe what humans
ought to do, usually in terms of rights,
obligations, benefits to society and fairness
Moral principles of an individual
A complex of moral precepts held or rules of
conduct followed by an individual.

Importance of Ethics in Teachers


1. Teachers contribute significantly to the overall
'quality' of students' lives.
2. Huge impact of teachers on students :
In the words of Karl Menninger "What
the teacher is, is more important than
what he teaches
3. Developing an unethical generation.
4. Unethical Practices of teachers leads to lower
self esteem, shattered self confidence and
depression amongst students.
5. Degrading the society by promoting non
deserving students.
