ABSTRACT
Autoclaved aerated concrete block have many advantages when
compared with Brick such as advanced strength to weight ratio, lower coefficient of
thermal expansion, and good sound insulation as a result of air voids within aerated
concrete. This project report is attention to comparison between brick work & AAC
Block work used in our apartment plan. Also, cost analysis of brick work & AAC
Block work.
This project is important in order to obtain required mechanical
properties of the AAC Block & brick work, both specimen properties are tested
under the literature review. Also, cost analysis of super structure in our appartment
plan.
Our Apartment building is three floor with super infrastructure, energy
efficient & green building base.

CONSTRUCTION OF BRICK WALL

Marking for brick walls & openings will be done on structural floor slab according to approved apartment
drawings.
Brick walls with 228.6mm thick will be built to around 2.765m height in first stage and balance will be
completed after curing the wall.
Brick walls with 114mm will be built to around 1.0m height in each curing.

CONSTRUCTION OF AAC BLOCK

The block work area will be wetted with water.

Surface of AAC blocks to be joined with mortar is to be wetted.
The mortar for AAC block will be blocks adhesive.
The base bed courses must invariably belaid in ordinary mason's mortar, theComposition of bedding mortar
1:1:6 (1 cement: 1 lime: 6 sand).
The joint adhesive thickness should beapproximately 2-3 mm, and thethickness ofjoint for base course
bedshould be at least 12.5 mm.

ADVANTAGES AND APPLICATIONS OF AAC BLOCK

Lightweight concrete has its obvious advantages of higher strength to
weight ratio, better tensile strain capacity, lower coefficient of thermal expansion,
and enhanced heat and sound insulation characteristics due to air voids in the
concrete.
The reduction in the dead weight of the construction materials using
lightweight concrete, could result in a decrease in cross-section of concrete
structural elements (columns, beams, plates & foundation). Also the reduction in
dead load may reduce the transmitted load to the foundations and bearing capacity
of the soil.
AAC Block can be used in both non-load bearing and load bearing
walls. Autoclaved aerated concrete blocks can be applicable in construction
engineering (compensation for the foundation, pipeline backfilling, roof
insulation, etc.), but also get some application results in infrastructure facilities
(such as bridge and culvert backfill, road widening, resolving bumping at bridgehead of soft base embankment.

CONCLUSION
Aerated lightweight concrete is unlike conventional concrete in some mix materials and properties.
Aerated lightweight concrete does not contain coarse aggregate, and it is possess many beneficial such as low
density with higher strength compared with conventional concrete, enhanced in thermal and sound insulation,
reduced dead load in the could result several advantages in decrease structural elements and reduce the transferred
load to the foundations and bearing capacity.
Aerated lightweight concrete have many advantages when compared with conventional concrete such as
advanced strength to weight ratio, lower coefficient of thermal expansion, and good sound insulation as a result
of air voids within aerated concrete. AAC Block have air voids & hence have better fire resisting property
compared to red clay bricks.
