CALCULATION OF SENSEX
Calculation of Sensex is done by the consideration of 30
listed companies in BSE.
It is calculated by the FREE FLOAT MARKET
CAPITALISATION METHOD
This is world wide accepted method for calculating
accurate Sensex value.

Market capitalization is simply the worth of a company in

terms of its shares.
Free float shares refers to shares which are available to
trade in open market.
Company have to send the full details of shares to BSE.
BSE will decide free float factor.
If we multiply free float factor with market capitalization
means we will get Free float market capitalization

Find out the free float market capitalization for all those
30 companies and add all the values.
Make this relative to the Sensex value
For ex: FFMC is Rs.200,000 cr and Sensex value is
10000
If FFMC increase to Rs.300,000 cr and Sensex?
200000 = 300000
10000
?
300000
10000 = 15000
200000
