Dr.. Md. Mamunur Rashid,

7 Tools of QC :
Production
environments that utilize
modern quality control
methods are dependant
upon statistical literacy.
The tools used therein
are called the seven
quality control tools.

Dr.. Md. Mamunur Rashid, www.bim.org.bd, 2014

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.

These include:
Check sheet
Flow chart
Histogram
Control Chart
Pareto Chart
Cause & Affect Diagram
Scatter Diagram

The seven tools are:

Cause-and-effect diagram (also known as the
"fishbone" or Ishikawa diagram)
Check sheet
Control chart
Histogram
Pareto chart
Scatter diagram
Stratification (alternately, flow chart or run
chart)

Check Sheet:
Check sheet:
The function of a check sheet is to present information
in an efficient, graphical format.

Pareto Chart:
Pareto charts are extremely useful because they can
be used to identify those factors that have the greatest
cumulative effect on the system, and thus screen out
the less significant factors in an analysis.

Flowchart:
Flowcharts are pictorial representations of a process.
By breaking the process down into its constituent
steps, flowcharts can be useful in identifying where
errors are likely to be found in the system.

7 Tools of QC (cont:):
Cause and Effect Diagram:
This diagram, also called an Ishikawa diagram is used to
associate multiple possible causes with a single effect.
Thus, given a particular effect, the diagram is constructed to
identify and organize possible causes for it.
Histogram:
Histograms provide a simple, graphical view of accumulated
data, including its dispersion and central tendency. In
addition to the ease with which they can be constructed,
histograms provide then easiest way to evaluate the
distribution of data.

7 Tools of QC (cont:):
Scatter Diagram:
Scatter diagrams are graphical tools that attempt to
depict the influence that one variable has on
another.
Control Chart:
The control chart is the fundamental tool of
statistical process control, as it indicates the range
of variability that is built into a system (known as
common cause variation).

Conclusion

Changes in the world market and in

technological conditions in the world
economy in the recent past, in particular in
the last decade, pose new challenges to
industrialization .In terms of cost of Quality
there are three main categories of changes are
most relevant. They are follows.
changes in market conditions,
in technology hardware and software
in the organization of production.
