What Is 5S

A system for organising and standardising an optimum workplace

A prerequisite to the implementation of all other improvements

Implementing 5S will :- Teach everyone the basic principles of improvement

- Provide a starting place for eliminating all waste
- Remove many obstacles to improvement (with very little cost)
- Make everyone responsible for their workplace
- Create a work place to be proud of

5S consists of 5 activities

STANDARDISE (recording & maintaining the first 3Ss)
Shitsuke (personal habits)
SUSTAIN (check & review mechanism)
