How Punia Tricked the


Shark King

Basic Information
Title of story: How Punia Tricked The Shark King
Author: Unknown
Main Characters: Punia, Kaialeale (Shark King)
Setting: lobster cave in Kohala

Exposition
One morning while eating breakfast, Punia
was thinking of how he could trick the
Shark King, and his followers who guarded
the favorite lobster of cave of Punias
father.

Conflict
Punia wanted to get lobster from a
lobster cave guarded by the Shark
King

Rising Action
1. As Punia goes to the lobster cave to get lobsters, his
mom prays to their aumakua to protect him.
2. Punia tricks the Shark King into killing all the other
sharks then tricks the Shark King into swallowing
him.
3. Punia tricks the Shark King into swimming to shore
where fishermen began beating him

Climax
Punia taunted the Shark King and angered him. The
fishermen thought the Shark King was trying to
escape so they killed him.

Falling Action
The fishermen started cutting open the shark, so
Punia called out, scaring them away. Punia made a
small opening in the mat, crawled out, then went
home to his mother.

Resolution
Punia continued the work of growing uala
that his father had taught him.
When his mother wanted lobsters, they got
them from the dead Shark Kings cave.

2.It will be a portfolio that you

Before we begin
Take a look at the contents of the binder that you have in front of you.
Notice the 8 dividers. The first 4 are for ELA. The second 4 are for Social
Studies.
Those dividers must remain in the binders. You will be removing all of the
work from each section, WITHOUT removing the dividers.
We will do this section by section.

DO NOT BEGIN UNTIL I HAVE DIRECTED YOU TO DO
