Fusion

Cause : union of two normally separated

teeth, and depending on the stage of
development of the teeth at the time of union.
Significance : unacceptable appearance or
alignment of teeth, and periodontal
conditions.
Treatment: There is a groove that runs down
the back of the tooth that is prone to decay
and may requires a filling.

Gemination
Cause: When one tooth splits into two teeth. the
patient has a large tooth but a normal number of
teeth overall.
Significance : lip irritation and aesthetic
problems
Treatment : There is a groove that runs down
the back of the tooth that is prone to decay and
may requires a filling. It can present a problem if
they do not fall out at the right time and
interfere with the eruption of the permanent
teeth.

Peg-shaped Incisors.
Significance: difference in apical root resorption
between small lateral incisors and normal
lateral incisors was found.
Treatment : No treatment, patient is concerned.
Orthodontic treatment first to align the teeth in
the arch.

Shovel shaped incisors:

Significance : these teeth may end up
allowing the entry of microorganisms and
irritants.
Treatment should be done before the tooth is
affected by dental caries.

Dilacerations:
Cause: This usually results from trauma.
Significance: The position or shape of the tooth
may be altered even before it erupts and
sometimes it may remain unerupted.
Treatment : Surgical extraction used to be the
first choice in treating the severely dilacerated
incisor.

Mesiodens:
Cause : a developmental disturbance
creating intracellular activity during the first
stage of the tooth development .
Significance : including delayed eruption,
crowding, spacing, impaction of permanent
incisors, or even eruption of incisors in the
nasal cavity
Treatment :Needs to be surgical removed.

Hutchinson's incisors:
exhibit crown that are shaped like straight-head
screwdrivers, with the greatest circumference
present in the middle third of the crown and a
constricted incisal edge.
Caused by congenital syphilis, on the permanent
incisors.

Mulberry Molars:
Mulberry molars show numerous disorganized.
globular projections on the occlusal surfaces
Caused by congenital syphilis, on the permanent
first molars.
Mulberry molars dont normally require any
treatment.

Talon Cusp:
Cause : etiology (unknown), but is thought to be a result
of genetics.
Significance : caused clinical problems related to
appearance, occlusal interference, tooth displacement,
caries, and tongue irritation. If the anomaly interferes
with occlusion, it must be removed.
Treatment : no treatment was planned for the taloned
tooth. It depends on whether the cusp contains or is
empty of a pulp horn

Dens Invaginatus:Cause : developmental anomaly.

Significance : risk of pulpal disease, it is
possible for dental caries to easily reach the
pulp chamber
Treatment: Root canal Treatment.

radiograph shows dens

invaginatus in maxillary
right lateral incisor.

Dens Evaginatus:
Cause :Dens evaginatus is a congenital
malformation of the tooth structure.
Significance :The cusp-like anomaly itself does
no
harm the patient. The tubercle often fractures or
is worn away, pulp exposure leading to pulpal
inflammation
Their management and treatment complications
including recurrent infections and root fractures.
