Recording Company (CTR)

In 1891, Edward Canby and


Orange O. Ozias, two
businessmen from Dayton,
Ohio

Flint recruited
Thomas J. Watson, Sr.
from the
National Cash Register
Company to lead the
company in 1914.

His favorite slogan, "THINK", became a mantra for CT-R's employees, and within 11 months of joining CT-R, Watson became General manager of CTR in 1914
and president in 1915.
CTR adopted the name International Business
Machines in 1924.
