began in 1969.

CPP-NPA-NDF REBELLION

On 21 August 1971, several explosions


occurred during an election campaign rally of
the Liberal Party at Plaza Miranda in the
district of Quiapo, Manila, causing nine
deaths and injuring 95 others.
On 21 September 1972, President Ferdinand
Marcos declared Martial Law, which forced
the NPA to fight for its freedom.
In 1974, the NPA launched its first tactical
operation inCalbiga, Samar, when it
ambushed an army scout patrol and seized a
number of their weapons.

CPP-NPA-NDF REBELLION

Until 2002, NPA received a considerable


amount of aid from outside the Philippines.
However, later developments forced it to rely
on support from other local sources.
In 2001, AFP launched a campaign of
selective extrajudicial killings, in an attempt
to suppress NPA activity.
On 9 August 2002, NPA was designated a
Foreign Terrorist Organization(FTO) by
theUnited States Department of State.

state.

foreign countries, rather
than international trade and
capitalism).
5. It opposes capitalism and
colonialism.
