Abstract :
What is a solar cooker?
Types of
solar
A solar cooker is acookers
device

which uses the energy of

direct sunlight to heat, cook or
pasteurize (making a milk,
wine or products safe for
consumption) food or drink.

Abstract :
Solar parabolic cooker is chosen
because of the effectiveness to
increase the rate of temperature
as well as the rate of reaction.

Objective :
Our objective is to :
To use alternative energy for
cooking
Make an efficient solar
cooker.
To boil water

Problem Statement :
Does the Parabolic cooker affect
the rate of temperature
increase ?
Does the shape of the Parabolic
cooker affect the rate of
reaction?

Scientific theory :

How Does Solar Cooking Work?

Solar cookingis done by the
sunsUV rays.
A solar cooker lets the UV light
rays in and then converts them to
longerinfrared light raysthat
cannot escape. Infrared radiation
has the right energy to make the
water, fat and protein molecules
in food vibrate vigorously and

Scientific theory :
When the UV rays pass and
reflect off the foil paper it passes
through another medium ( air )
before getting to the water. This
is called refraction.

Scientific theory :
The heat gets retained in the same way
the green house effect happens.
The heat comes in then cant get
out.
An efficient solar cooker will use the
energy of the sun to heat a cooking
vessel and efficiently retain the energy
(heat) for maximum cooking
effectiveness

Why we chose the colour :

The reason we chose the
colour BLACK is because
BLACK has the specific
properties of the colour and of
the light which traps heat
better then the other colours.

Our Design Specification:

Adjustable lens :
You can adjust the lens position based on
the sun lights direction.
The Parabolic shape concentrates sunlight
to a single point. This concentrated
sunlight can heat up rapidly at a very high
temperature. The efficiency of solar energy
goes up to more than 90%.
It is useful to individual households and
large scale institutional cooking.

Worst case scenario :

If there is no sunlight we can :
Use styrofoam dust to absorb
heat from its surroundings. We
blow the dust by using our
mouth, which circulates around
the Parabolic to absorb heat.

Pictures of the making :

Conclusion :
Our conclusion is that :
The solar cooker has many
benefits for our normal lives.
The benefits of solar cooking is
that we can use an alternative
energy instead of using fossil
fuels or electricity for
generating heat for cooking.
