INTRODUCTION
A bearing is a machine element
that supports and allows
rotational movement of some
type of shaft.
Also known as Anti-friction
bearings.
Bearings have task of
supporting both axial as well as
radial loads which are imposed
on the load.
The classification of bearings
depend upon the type of load
acted upon.

Separator/Retainer

The rolling contact bearing consists of four parts:

CONSTRUCTION

OUTER RACE : Pressed into the housing or bore.

INNER RACE: A shaft is usually pressed or inserted.
ROLLERS: They are spherical balls which rotate or roll between inner and outer
races and allow for rotational motion between both races.
SEPERATOR: It contains and separates each roller or ball from the others.

CONSTRUCTION

Balls in the ball bearing rotate freely.

One bearing race remains stationary while the other rotates due to
rotation of balls.
An external seal is used for protection purposes as well as for keeping
the grease inside the bearing.

Some bearings which have seals on both sides do not require

lubrication.
