What is internship?
An internship is an opportunity to
integrate career related experience
into an undergraduate education by
participating in planned, supervised
work.

Characteristics of Internship
Contributes to the students personal and professional
development through challenging work assignments
Is completed before the student graduates from the university
Is planned and scheduled through consultation with the
department and college so as to fit into the undergraduate
experience
Involves a supervision component that is mentoring and
educational
Includes career related experiences that complement what is
learned in the classroom
Will have a reflection and evaluation process at the conclusion
of the internship
Builds upon the relationship the school has with employers
Is most successful when the student, the department/college,
and the employer all share responsibility in making it a
valuable experience

MECHANICS OF
INTERNSHIP
PROGRAM

Distribute Student
Internship Application Form
during Internship 1 Class

Submit the Application Form to


Internship 1 Professor
After one week, the SIAF should be submitted

Attend scheduled Mock Interview

PCO will schedule students for


interview

Get Recommendation Letter


from PCO

Students must get their


recommendation a day before the
interview.
To those students who happen to have
a class on the time and day of the
interview, he/she must give an excuse
letter to his/her professor/s. The
standard excuse letter will be provided
by PCO and has to be signed by the

After the interview submit a copy of your


recommendation letter to PCO. It should
be signed by the interviewer

Note: DO NOT cut the lower portion of the letter

Please secure the signature of the


interviewer.
Submit the signed copy at least a day
after the interview. We will not allow you
to start your internship without
submitting the signed recommendation
letter.

Enroll your Internship Subject


before the first day of internship

Submit a copy of your Registration Form to Palaestra


Consortio Office.

Student who will fail to submit a copy of


registration form will not be allowed to start.
For those who will be asked by the company
to start before the enrollment period, you must
do the Internship Pre Enrollment. Once the
enrollment period starts you must process your
registration form. If the student cannot go to
the

school

to

do

the

processing,

his/her

guardian must process the registration form.

Failure to process your registration form


within the enrollment period will result to
termination of internship.
It is the responsibility of the student to
know the schedule of enrollment.

Once enrolled, get a student


internship waiver from PCO

Accomplish the form and have it signed by your


Parents/Guardian, Dean and Internship Company

Students must submit the liability


waiver a week after the start of
internship. PCO will not count the
internship hours rendered if the
student/s failed to submit the liability
form on time.

accomplishment of the required number of
hours would NOT be allowed to enroll

It is the responsibility of the student to

LIGHT OFFENSES
Wearing improper attire during the Interview
Not attending the scheduled interview
Late Submission of Internship Requirements

SANCTIONS
1st Offense Verbal Warning
2nd Offense Written Warning
3rd Offense Conference with Parents

SERIOUS OFFENSE
Habitual absenteeism/tardiness in
internship companies.
Stopped attending internship without prior
notice
Disrespect to manager, supervisor or any
employee of the company
Transferring to another company without
PCOs knowledge and approval

VERY SERIOUS OFFENSE


Instigating, Inciting, provoking or taking
part in illegal and or violent
demonstration or activities in the
Internship Company
Terminated by Company due to valid
reasons and upon PCO validation
SANCTION

Failing Grade on Internship


Subject

GRAVE OFFENSE
Robbery, thievery and acts of malicious
mischief involving company property or that
of the members of the employees and
guest.
Any act of unlawful, or otherwise criminal in
nature
Unethical or elicit relationship with any
employee in the internship company.
SANCTION
Students who commit offenses deemed
very serious by the Board of Discipline
will undergo disciplinary hearing
following due process.
