Tutor Guidance

1. Explain the unit outcomes and check understanding.


2. Present students with unit assessments and processes for
submission.
3. Utilise the PowerPoint to support lesson delivery, and student
understanding.
4. Allow for students to record lesson information to support them in
their assessment.
5. Consolidate after each lesson.
6. Link theory lesson outcomes with practical delivery.
7. Consolidate and link the practical and theory aspects with the unit

8. Utilise any and all resources to support and deliver the unit outcomes

Unit aim
This unit introduces learners to the legal requirements, principal Health and safety
legislation and
how these are applied in the workplace.
Learners must have access to sport and leisure environment in which to conduct a
risk assessment.
Learning outcomes
There are four outcomes to this unit. The learner will be able to:
203.1: Understand health and safety requirements of employees in sport and active
leisure
203.2: Understand how to contribute to a safe workplace
203.3: Understand risks and hazards in sport and active leisure
203.4: Understand how to respond to accidents, incidents and emergencies in sport
and leisure
Guided learning hours
It is recommended that 30 hours should be allocated for this unit. This may be on a

2. state how to minimise the risk of slips, trips and falls
3. identify precautions that must be taken when undertaking manual
handling

Covered under RIDDOR, reporting serious injuries/illnesses to the
HSE/Local Authority Safety Officer, keeping an accident book,
reporting serious incidents (structural failure, explosions, gas escapes)
and near misses, outbreaks of serious diseases
Employers responsibility
Providing suitable and sufficient first aid equipment, training and
having available qualified first aiders, training staff to support first aid
incidents
