locations and protect from invading
armies and barbarian raids.

Moats
DEFINITION

A moat is a deep,
broad ditch, either dry
or filled with water,
that surrounds a
castle, other building
or town

using the energy of a

to throw a projectile

piece of artillery that
uses gunpowder or
other usually
explosive-based
propellants to launch
a projectile

missile weapon that
launched a large
projectile at a distant
