INTRODUCTION

Bus arrival time is the primary information to most

city transport travelers.
Bus transport service reduces fuel consumption and
hence must be encouraged.
Mobile phone based participatory sensing.

Page 3

INTRODUCTION

Participatory sensing is concept of communities(or

group of people ) contributing sensory information to
form body of knowledge.
Mobile phone which has multiple sensors which
made participatory sensing viable in large scale.
Participatory sensing are used to retrieve information
about the environment, weather, congestion etc.

EXSISTING SYSTEM

Enquiring at bus depot.

Bus companies provide bus time table on internet.
Installation of location tracking devices such as GPS
in the bus.
Many public services (Google maps) are provided to
the travelers.
These services offer useful information but far from
the satisfactory to the bus travelers.
Page 5

DISADVANTAGES OF EXISTING SYSTEM

It usually requires cooperation of bus companies.

Companies do not update timetable on regular basis.
It requires installation of GPS which is expensive and
also power consumption of GPS is more.

Page 6

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Bus arrival time prediction based on the results stored

in the server given by user.
SCOPE:
Present a novel bus arrival time prediction system.

Page 7

PROPOSED SYSTEM
Bus arrival time prediction using cellular signals.
Independent of bus company.
Bridges gap between sharing user and querying user.

Page 8

PROPOSED SYSTEM
Querying user: are the user who query about the
arrival time of the bus at particular bus stop.
Sharing user: are the user who currently present in
the bus and are sharing the data using their smart
phones in order to predict the bus arrival time.
Backend server: Collecting instantly reported
information from the sharing user and intellectually
processing such information so as to monitor bus
routes and predict bus arrival time.

Page 9

ADVANTAGES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM

Power consumption is less compared to GPS.

Real time availability of bus timetable.
Independent of bus operating companies.
Cost effective.
