Imam Abu Dawud Sulaiman ibn Ash`ath ibn Ishaq ibn Bashir ibn Shaddad ibn `Umar ibn `Imran al-Azdi Sajastani
Year and Place of Birth
Year: 202 A.H. // Place of Birth: Sajistan, a famous city in Khurasan // Belonged to an Arab tribe, Azd
Spent most of his year in Basrah (seat of Islamic teaching // during his time).
A traveller for hadiths searching. Hijaz // Egypt // al-Jazirah // Nishapur // Syria // Isfahan.
Death: Friday 16th Shawwal 275 A.H. // Age: 72

Well versed in criticism of hadith // Expert in distinguish sound hadith from weak and defective characteristics.
Four person reported expert in criticism of hadith were:
Imam Bukhari // Imam Muslim // an-Nasai // Imam Abu Dawud.
Has the title of Imam al-Muhaddithin // A great Jurist // Master in Fiqh and Ijtihad.
Devoted a religious life // Somehow, prefer to avoid men of ranks like company of Sultans and royal courtesies.
One sleeves wide (for storing notes on hadith) and one correctly sized.
It was said he was among the Hanbalis follower or Shafis follower.
