Discussion
Conclusion
According to Ahmad (2012) a former campaignadviserto the Governor of Jakarta, 2014 will be the year
to see how social media is used and abusedfor political agendas by various political parties and
presidential candidates. Some 44% of Indonesias population is under the age of 25, guaranteeing a
steady stream of new voters in the years ahead. Indonesia is a youth-orientated society, said Professor
David Hill of Murdoch University. There has always been a special political role for youth in Indonesian
society.
Majority of the students are still not aware of the presidential election. The result of the questionnaire
mentioned that most of them like to know the political campaign situation through social media.
Implication
It is suggested that the freedom of press have a big impact in shaping good country by democracy as
mentioned. In modern democracy, the mass media has not only been raising as one important element
of political communication, beyond the political organization and citizens (McNair,2011).
Recommendation
Future researches are recommended to further study about media behavior in shaping mind and opinion
of the public, not only students about the coming election in Indonesia in 2014 next year. In addition, it is
suggested that the researchers should enlarge the knowledge about the benefit of supporting the
presidential campaign in Indonesia, for a better future.
