What is a JOURNAL?
A daily written record of (usually personal)
experiences and observation.
A written account of personal or
(organisational) events and when they
happened, ordered by time.

What is a SPIRITUAL JOURNAL?


It is a written record of personal reactions on
spiritual matters (Habakkuk 2:2-3).
It is a way of paying attention to daily life,
looking at what we and others do in order to
understand what God may be saying to us and
asking of us.

BENEFITS OF KEEPING A SPIRITUAL


JOURNAL.
Records spiritual (and everyday) events and
thoughts one has, so they are not forgotten.
Aids remembrance of ones spiritual history and
it creates an opportunity to record discoveries.
Makes it easy for one to track his/her spiritual
growth.
It clarifies ones understanding of the nature
and will of God.

Keeping a Spiritual Journal means recording


our experiences in Gods presence and in our
daily life.
Thereafter, we relate these experiences to
Gods desires/will/law/statutes for our
Christian lives.

grammar. See it as an informal
discussion with a friend.

YOUR
MOTIVATION
Dont journal because you were
asked to, or because you want to
compete with your colleagues.
Do it because you want to have
a deeper encounter with God.

YOUR
Dont
beat about the
FEARS

weaknesses, problems,
habits, fears etc.
Journaling is to make
us better people.
