INTRODUCTION
Crompton Greaves (CG) is an Indian multinational company engaged in
design, manufacturing, and marketing of products related to power
generation, transmission, and distribution based in Mumbai. It is part
of Avantha Group
After the acquisition of the Belgium-based Pauwels Trafo/Pauwels
Group in May 2005, Crompton Greaves was ranked amongst the
world's top ten electrical transformer manufacturers.
Crompton Greaves is a part of the US$4 billion Avantha Group, and is
headquartered in a building CG House at Worli, Mumbai .
Mr Gautam Thapar is the chairman of the board, and Mr K. N. Neelkant
is the CEO and Managing Director of the company.
In keeping with its growing aspirations, Avantha has been aggressively
expanding overseas. With a global footprint, the Group operates in
10 countries with more than 25,000 employees.

HISTORY
1878- Col. R.E.B. Crompton founded R.E.B Crompton & Company
1927 company merged with F.A. Parkinson Company and formed
Crompton Parkinson Ltd.
1859- Greaves Cotton and Company, established by James Greaves,
was appointed as their concessionaire in India
1937 - Crompton Parkinson established Crompton Parkinson Works
Ltd
1947 - Lala Karam Chand Thapar, an Indian industrialist, bought
Greaves Cotton when the company was put up for sale. With this
acquisition, Karam Chand Thapar gained control of several
associated companies such as Crompton Parkison Works, Greaves
Cotton and Crompton Parkinson Company.
2 August 1966 - The name Crompton Greaves Limited was adopted.

Its industrial transformer division located at Malanpur is amongst the few units
in India, to have been accredited both ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001,

for occupational health and safety management system.

ION
In my opinion: Its financial area is not so good, but recently this year company done demerger of
its consumer business and selling its non profitable sectors, this results in
decrease of debts.
Due to very vast opportunity in power sector in India and many countries, this
company is going to increase its business rapidly
With strong consumer base and industrial technology and many achievements ,
Crompton greaves is a very good competitor for companies like Havells,
Siemens ,etc.
It need more financial support for more innovations and for providing good
services. Companies like BHEL has government support.
In last, this company is going to be major player in power , automation sector in upcoming future.
