To review, an introduction paragraph is the part of the

paper that states the MAIN IDEA(thesis). It introduces
the topic and your countrys position in general so that
we can go into detail later in the body paragraphs.

Your introduction should be 4-5 sentences long

This will require you to do your own research about

your country and think creatively about how they
might feel about the topic. You DO NOT need to find an
article addressing how your country feels about the
issue- that is too specific!

Women have not been treated with the same respect

as men for years, which has been detrimental to
productivity in societies worldwide. 2 Across the globe,
recent movements have indicated the need to expand
the role of women in governance in order to have fair
rights between men and women. 3 In Kuwait, women do
not normally go to school, but if we could have all
women studying, we will reduce the number of illiterate
people. It would affect our country on a political,
cultural and religious level. 4 Even though women can
already work in politics and study at university, we
want to improve gender equality and encourage
women to participate more in politics.

Position Papers: Outlines

Before you write any paper, it is a good idea to create

an outline, mapping out your thoughts and how you will
structure the essay

An outline is informal and is designed to help YOU- you

can use bullet points and do not need to use complete
sentences

Now that we have clarified what an introduction looks like,

look over your introduction paragraphs and edit them!

If you have written the same paragraph as someone else,

you will need to re-write your introduction!

Make an outline- What will your arguments be? This may

change over time, and thats okay! This is your initial plan
for how to write your paper
