Possible Concerns from Customers

2013 NIIT Technologies Confidential

Security

Data Security
iBeacon/Bluetooth LE doesnt store any enterprise or user data All
data is fetched thru secure web services over SSL

Signal Interference
Could potentially interfere with other signals like WIFI. However, so far
there are no such issues found.
Really Higher density of Bluetooth LE transmitters could be an issue

Operations

Battery Life
Typical Bluetooth LE Sensor has a battery life of a 18-24 months
App can track the sensor status and record unavailability of the sensor
USB powered Bluetooth LE devices should be available in 4 QTR 2014
or early 2015. These devices will resolve the issue of battery life.

Maintenance
No historical data
So far during PoC of last 8 months we are running beacons non stops
and have no maintenance issues

Cost of the Bluetooth LE Sensors

Today sensors are available for less than $40/piece. We expect the bulk
price of such sensors will be less than $10/piece

Bluetooth LE vs NFC key differences

Bluetooth LE
Offers wider communication
range few feet to 150 feet

NFC
Requires proximity of few
centimeters

Supported by iOS and Android 4.3 Supported by Android 4.0,

or above
Windows 8.0 and Blackberry
Doesnt need Bluetooth pairing,
will work as soon as user has
downloaded the app and is in the
range of the sensor

User need to make deliberate

effort to use it

Doesnt pose any security issue

as Sensors doesnt store any
information

Supports both secure and

unsecure data communication

More intrusive a smart app can

track users across multiple
sensors

Less intrusive as user make

deliberate effort to connect to the
NFC tags
