WWW (World Wide Web)

1. WWW Stands for "World Wide Web." The World Wide

Web, or just "the Web," as ordinary people call it, is a

subset of the Internet.

2. The Web consists of pages that can be accessed

using a
Web browser. The Internet is the actual
network of networks where all the information
resides.
3. World Wide Web. The Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP)
is the method used to transfer Web pages to your computer.
With hypertext, a word or phrase can contain a link to
another Web site. All Web pages are written in the hyper-text
markup language (HTML), which works in conjunction with
HTTP.

Introduction to
NetworkTypes
Types of networks

LAN - Local Area Network

WLAN - Wireless Local Area Network
WAN - Wide Area Network
MAN - Metropolitan Area Network
SAN - Storage Area Network, System Area
Network, Server Area Network, or sometimes
Small Area Network

Local Area Network (LAN)

Definition : A local area network

(LAN) supplies networking capability
to a group of computers in close
proximity to each other such as in an
office building, a school, or a home. A
LAN is useful for sharing resources like
files, printers, games or other
applications.

Specialized operating system software

may be used to configure a local area
network

A LAN in turn often connects to other

LANs, and to the Internet or other WAN
.

For example, most flavors of Microsoft

Windows provide a software package
called
Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) that
supports controlled access to LAN
resources.

Wireless Local Area Network - a

LAN based on Wi-Fi wireless network
technology

Wide Area Network (WAN)

a WAN spans a large physical distance. The Internet is

the largest WAN, spanning the Earth.
A WAN is a geographically-dispersed collection of LANs.
A network device called a router connects LANs to a
WAN.
A WAN differs from a LAN in several important ways
Most WANs (like the Internet) are not owned by any one
organization but rather exist under collective or
distributed ownership and management.
WANs tend to use technology like ATM, Frame Relay and
X.25 for connectivity over the longer distances.

Internet
what is internet?
what is internet?

The Internet is a global system

of interconnected
computer networks that use the
standard Internet Protocol Suite
(TCP/IP) to serve billions of users
worldwide.

How Internet Works ?

1. A worldwide system of
interconnected networks allowing
for data transmission between
millions of computers
2. It is a network of networks that
consists of millions of private, public,
academic, business, and government
networks of local to global scope that
are linked by a broad array of
electronic and optical networking
technologies.
3. The Internet carries a vast array
of information resources and services,
most notably the inter-linked
hypertext documents of the
World Wide Web (WWW) and the
infrastructure to support
electronic mail .

How To Access Any Website

1.You simply type in the address of the webpage that you want to visit at
the top of the proxy home page and then click browse.

2. It then lets you go through and view your favorite web page and as it is
going through that site it is anonymous.

How To Access Email

To access Gmail or yahoo mail or else any

mail, go to the corresponding website
Type the username, password and then
click on login

Configure TCP/IP

How to configure TCP

/IP to use DNS in Windows XP
Configuring TCP/IP, including basic functions such
as starting and stopping TCP/IP
Creating a new Ethernet line
Creating a new token-ring line
Working with TCP/IP interfaces, including
configuring a TCP/IP route
Working with TCP/IP host tables, including
configuring a TCP/IP host name and domain name
Verifying a TCP/IP connection (PING)

Computer networks can be classified

according to the hardware and
software technology that is used to
interconnect the individual devices in
the network, such as optical fiber,
Ethernet, Wireless LAN, HomePNA,
Power line communication or G.hn.

Ethernet uses physical wiring to connect

devices. Frequently deployed devices
include hubs, switches, bridges and/or
routers.
Wireless LAN technology is designed to
connect devices without wiring. These
devices use radio waves or infrared signals
as a transmission medium.
