I. Overview of
models

Applications

Vineyard
Ideal sized crawlers for inter-row cultivation with a choice of four models.
C version - With an ultra-narrow width of only 1.18 metres (46.5), these models
can work easily in the narrow confines of vineyard rows.
N version - The N version is an all-purpose crawler tractor with compact size and
good power to weight ratio.
M version - The mountain version has the same standard track shoe width as the
N version, but a longer wheelbase and wide platform area makes it ideal for
operating in steep terrain. With its low centre of gravity and long track footprint,
it can operate safely on a twenty percent steeper slope than a wheeled tractor.
L version Features a wider footprint for more traction and less slippage. The
wide platform offers another choice when size is not as critical.
Manoeuvrability is crucial in these applications and the V models are specifically
designed to operate within narrow rows. Stability on hillside work, minimal soil
compaction and excellent traction on hard clay ensure these models are ideally
suited to this specialised industry.

Euro III / Tier III emission regulation

In order to comply with the latest stringent engine
emission testing, the Euro III SDF engines have
had the following upgrades introduced;
New HP injection system incorporating HRT.
(Hydraulic Roller Tappet)
Internal EGR (Engine Gas Recirculation)
Wastegate turbo design (4-cylinder)
New piston bowl profile for cleaner air to fuel
mix and higher compression ratio
Enhanced internal sealing. (Cylinder head

SDF 1000 Series Euro III 3 & 4-cylinder

engines

Hydraulic Roller Tappet (HRT) technology

Provides the optimum control over the timing of when
fuel is injected into the combustion chamber (Controlled
electro-hydraulically by a solenoid valve).
When starting the engine with the oil cold, the HRT
system will lift the plunger marginally to advance the
injection. This has the following effect on the engine;
Easier cold start capabilities (test performed down
to -20C )
Eliminates the white smoke produced when started
up, however cold the conditions.
Greatly reduces the need for engine pre-heating.
Electronic monitoring to compensate for all operating
conditions.
03 / 2010

19

III. Engine

Engine

SDF 1000 Series Euro III 3 & 4-cylinder

engines

Internal Gas Recirculation

On these engines the recirculation occurs directly in
the combustion chamber.
During the inlet cycle, a dedicated cam lobe allows
the exhaust valve to remain marginally open and
lets a small percentage of exhaust gas return back
into the cylinder and mix with the clean inlet air. This
enables any non burnt fuel particles to go through
the combustion process again resulting in cleaner
emission from the exhaust.

the steering console.
Light lever effort results in semi disengagement of
the clutches for small alterations to the steering
direction.
Progressively pulling the lever backwards means
tighter turning.
The last stage of the lever travel fully disengages the
corresponding clutch making the machine easier to
steer, particularly on steep slopes.
An accumulator has been added to the F models to
reduce the lever effort at low engine rpm
(700
1200 erpm)

Benefit
Smooth, effortless steering.

VI. Tracks

Tracks

Tracks
The tracks run on 5 lower rollers (4 on V compact). These carrier rollers are a long life
flanged type and are structurally designed to absorb high axial loads.

Drive sprockets with a special profile ensures each chain link wears evenly to provide
long life chains. The spoke structure allows any soil build-up to easily break free and
prevent damage.
Chain tension is manual.
