History of Guitnangbayan
Elementary School
Guitnangbayan Elementary School started as an
annex of San Mateo Elementary School back in the
early 80s. In the latter years it was baptized as
Guitnangbayan Barrio School spearheaded by Mrs.
Aurora Vergara. While San Mateo Elementary School
was a complete elementary school, Guitnangbayan
remained three-room annex that catered up to fourth
grade until 1987. It was Mr. Jose San Miguel, Jr. who
requested the Sangguniang bayan to change the name
from Barrio School to Guitnangbayan Elementary
School. Over the years, the population increased and
so did the faculty. From the pioneers of 4 came the
new teachers who introduced the modern ways of
teaching. The school would not prosper as it is without
the help and mentoring of the school heads who

a
complete and a non-central school located along
GSIS Road, Guitnangbayan I, San Mateo, Rizal. It
has a land area of 3, 380 m 2 . It was established
in 1960 catering to two (2) barangays of San
Mateo, Guitnangbayan I and Guitnangbayan II. It
is around 500 m from the Municipal Hall, Town
Plaza and Parish Church.
Formerly, it was an annex of San Mateo
Elementary School called Guitnangbayan Barrio
School with two (2) teachers teaching Grades I
and II. It was only in 1987 that it became a
complete
elementary
school.
Todate,
Guitnangbayan Elementary school has a total of
2911 pupils with 56 passionate and dedicated
teachers, 1 school principal, 2 school clerks and
2 school guards. Due to shortage of classrooms,
