HYDRONIUM ION
A positively charged ion formed when an acid dissolves in
water (H3O+)

HYDROXIDE ION
A negatively charged ion that is formed when a base
dissolves in water (OH-)

ACID
A substance that produces a hydronium ion when dissolved in

BASE
A substance that produces hydroxide ion when dissolved in
water.

PH

pH is an inverse measure of hydronium ions in a solutions

H SCALE

A scale used to indicate how acidic or how basic a solution is

INDICATOR
A compound that changes color at different pH values when it
reacts with acidic or basic solutions
