What is the rainbow centre?

The Rainbow Centre takes in and cares for abandoned and mistreated
cats
and dogs that are found in the Northwest of Ireland.

Who is the founder of this project?

The Rainbow Rehoming centre was established by Helen Davies
in
1997 due to a huge increase in unwanted and abandoned cats
and dogs
found every year.
The centre now accommodates up to 20 dogs and 30 cats.

Unfortunately the rainbow centre is not funded by the government so

they
have to rely on public funding.
Below are some examples of how . . .
You can donate money yourself by setting up a standing order or just

giving a donation whenever is possible. Every little helps

As well as money donations you can donate your time as a volunteer

worker, where you could be asked to do anything from dog walking,

feeding or simply spending some quality time with the animals.
Another way to help fund the rainbow centre is by donating clothes,

toys or even household items to the animal refugee charity shop at

waterloo place in Derry city, in hope to raise money for the animals.

Good results..
The rainbow centre has a lot of support from a variety of companies
throughout Ireland such as jollys pet store , pets at home , Foyle
view
veterinary clinic and many more.
This support from the public and businesses has proven successful.
In 2008 ,1000 Cats and Dogs were cared for and later rehomed in the
year.

The rainbow centre gives people the opportunity to foster animals

as well and keep animals, for a short period of time wile a permanent
home is being found. Its an idea to be taken into consideration as it is
not permanent but helps your local animal shelter and the animal
without the long-term commitment.
If you are interested in adopting or fostering a pet go onto the rainbow
Centres website where you can look through what they have to offer
with pictures and descriptions of each cat or dog to give you an idea of
its temperament and personality. http://www.rainbowrehoming.com

living stray alongside her kittens. She
has the sweetest nature and will let
you lift and pet her but can be slightly
unsure. This is to be expected as she
has been living a stray outdoors life
for at least the last 6 months.
We have no doubt once settled in her
new home this will leave her
