Introduction
Effective early treatment that alters the long-term course of the disorder would
therefore have great potential benefits for individuals, families, and society,
social communication,
social
imitation.
PACT was a randomised controlled trial done at three specialist centres in the
UK (London, Manchester, and Newcastle).
Children aged from 2 years to 4 years and 11 months were recruited if they
met the criteria for so-called core autism in accordance with the
international standard diagnostic tests (social and communication domains of
the ADOS-G,9and two of three domains of the Autism Diagnostic Interview
Revised [ADI-R] algorithm)
Intervention
primary outcomes
The primary outcomes were autism symptom severity, assessed with the ADOS
Comparative Severity Score (CSS), 19,20parentchild dyadic communication,
using the Dyadic Communication Measure for Autism (DCMA), and language
composite scores; calculated at baseline, the original study endpoint, and
follow-up
