Introduction to Case
The international relief organization was engaged

in 1974, in planning a feeding scheme to mitigate


to the extent that recourses permitted, the
nutritious deficiency of the population of
jalabhumi state.
The

benefit of the scheme available to the


household whose monthly income is less than 300.

The meal is available to the following segment of

population.
Infant upto 3 years.
2. Pregnant woman and nursing mother.
3. Pre-school children between three and five and half
year.

There are 1.3 million pre-schoolers in jalabhumi


requires supplemental nutrition.
There are 1,700 Balwadies which were not enough to
cover 1.3 million pre-schoolers but it requires 33,000
balwadies. Which was 20 times the existing.

Infant up to 3 years, pregnant woman and

nursing mothers.
As per the social norms and attitudes were such that
adult Indian woman particularly pregnant and
nursing woman reacted strongly and negatively to
the idea of consuming food in front of strangers.
