Dental tools

Dental mirror
Dental mirror is principale
used for examination, to
visualise, but also to reflect,
to move tissues so the
doctor can see better.
Pacient mirror si the mirrorr
where the pacient can see
the result.

Dental Explorer
An instrument double ended
with onother explorer on the
other end or not.

Periodontol Probe
Periodontol probe is used to
measure sulcular depth.
Periodontol disease is the loss of
gingiva and tooth support.
One number between 1-3 mm
indicates a healthy tissue, but
when the number is increased
(5mm) this loss indicate is a loss of
tooth-gingiva attachment.

The Rubber DAM System

This system isolate the teeth
from the rest of the cavity.
This is important because
controls the moisture, which
s very important to the long
term and success of dental
restauration.

Rubber Dam Clamp

The rubber dam clamp is used to
help hold the rubber dam in place.
Is placed over the tooth to secure
the rubberdam material to the
tooth. It may also help to slightly
retract the gingiva.

Rubber Dam Clamp

Rubber Dam Forceps

Used to put the clamp on the tooth.

The Rubber Dam frame

The rubber dam frame stretch the material in the place for the view of
the teeth.

Cotton Forceps/ College Pliers/ Pick-ups

Used to grap items during the dental procedures.

Spoon excavator caries excavator

Used to remove dental caries, particualry, deyed dentin. Double ended
instrument.

Dycal Applicator or Calcium Hydroxide

Applicator
Dycal Applicator used to place
a small amounts of CaOH2
onto the foor of cavity
preparation. His function is to
stimulate the pulp to make new
dentin.
Single ended instrument.

Plugger or Condenser
Used to condence amalgam into a
cavity preparation.
His function is to push and compress.

Anatomical Burnisher or Acorn

Used to burnish amalgam or
shape composite, to make luster
and shine.

Ball Burnisher
Used to smooth, polish by
rubbing amalgam to give it
luster.

Plastic Filling instruments - PFI

Used to place the composite resin
materials.
Used to give shape and to develop
anatomy during the placement of
restauration.
They are many different plastic filling
instruments, each one has a unique
shape and name.

Discoid-Cleoid amalgam carver

Discoid (like a disc) end
to cave setting amalgam.
Is used to carving ans
give anatomical shape to
site the amalgam. One
end is round discoid and
the other is cleiod.

Tofflemire Matrix Band and Retainer

Used to create a wall around the tooth
during the filling phase. Is keeping the
material restauration.

Wooden Wedges
A partner to the matrix band is the wooden
wedges. A wood wedges is a pice of wood
or plastic used beetwin the teeth to force the
matix band tight to the tooth.
Used to hold the matrix band tight to a
tooth. This will let the band to keep the
restaurative material in the cavity
preparation. Is very important that the teeth
to be in contanct each other after restoration
is competed.

Flowable Composite
1) Enamel and Dentin Etchant
Acid etchant is gel that is usually used
about 35-37% phosphoric acid. Whose
function is to microscopically erod the
surface of the enamel and dentin increase
tooth surface area.
Using this material is vital for success on
long term of a restauration. After etching, the
surface is very rought, typical depth of the
etch is 25 microns.

Before and After Acid Erching

Flowable Composite
2) Vital of Bonding Agent
A class of material that has many
formulations whose generally function is to flow
into the microscopy rought and enamel surfaces.
Is used to aid in the retention of a composite
restoration.
This liquid will flow into the spaces and will
from a liquid-solid interdigitations. This
interdigitations is now a hard plastic that froms
onto the tooth surface and is using to keep a
filling or restauration from falling out.

After using bonding agent and composite

Flowable Composite
3) Bonding Agent Brush
Is a small brush used to place boding agent on the tooth.
4) Flowable Composite
Flowable composite is an material chemically similar to bonding
agent, but it contain more small particules of silicon dioxyd.
