Current focus and challenges of R12.C2

Current challenges
Facing a 3 week slippage to baseline project schedule through a delay in provision of working SAP
Development environments originally due on 9/7
ISU development started on 19/7 with EHP/SPS issues still to be fixed
CRM issue with web client fixed 7/8, development likely to start 13/8
Alignment of R12.C2 Plan against Smart Programme activities (e.g. Foundation Communications,
Deployment, Meter selection, Smart Model Office) which continue to move into the future
Achievements
27 SAP Functional Specifications for original scope completed, reviewed and approved on schedule
to finalise remaining 7 under RfC
Good progress on ISU configuration, development and retrofit since environment has been available
Good progress on MDMS configuration and unit test, developments due to arrive next week to date
this activity has not been impacted by SAP environment slippage
Current focus
Minimise impact of Development environment issue re-planning at development object level to
understand impact on each testing phase of delayed SAP build
Prepare for testing phases identifying scenarios, scripting, detailed dependency planning
Engage with Smart programme to support alignment of future activities

Design - Smart Office has not yet been defined which
Model Office
presents a risk to solution design,
resulting in a requirement for the Release

Solution design will be based on

approved assumptions, but
there is a risk of re-design work
and potential delivery impact if
the Smart Model Office
composition is different to the
assumptions made by the

Any change to TOR for Smart

is that all assumptions made
in 12.C2 relating to Smart

regulatory requirements for managing the capture and maintenance of
customer consent for the use of smart metering data.

Develop the capability to set up electricity smart metering installations on a
Data Processing (DP) contract rather than a Data Collector (DC) contract and
to suppress the appointment of a Meter Reading Agent (MRA) for gas smart
metering installations.
Develop the capability to allow npower to operate compliant smart meters that
have been installed by other suppliers and gained by npower as smart meters.
