My Project: Goals

Wanted to involve project - based learning

Wanted them to be engaged and grow

Wanted them to work together and support

one and other

Combine both 3rd and 4th graders, in order

for the 3rd graders to be challenged while
the 4th graders can communicate by
helping or motivating their peers.

Have the kids be proud of their work and

having a clear understanding of their topic.
My Project: Description

We will pair the groups up with even amounts of 3rd and 4th graders, then I will assign the groups with a
tribe. They would have to learn the different types of american indians, environments/living conditions
theyre in, their wealth and trading system, their cultures, and comparing and contrasting between all the
tribes. We decided to use the information in textbooks about native americans as a resource for the kids
and have them answer questions in relations to their tribe. While I read and summarized it so i can be able to
teach the students when needed, in a pace they all can follow with while being confident on what im
teaching about. When we all have a good understanding about this topic, we can jump right into the creative
part of the project. Since they already have a brief understanding of all the tribes, they can look back at their
notes and grab important facts or information about their assigns tribe. Every group will each create a visual
of "The Life of an American Indian including environments/living conditions theyre in, their wealth and
trading system, and their cultures . Lastly, together as a group will do a gallery walk/ presentation and see all
the different ways the indians lived their lives.
