Discuss on the democratization of education and its impact on


national integration

Definition

Democratization of education is defined


as qualityaccess and opportunity involves
allocation of massive financial material
resources, development of policies designed
to reduce social and economic inequalities
relevant curriculum and devising appropriate
selection procedures to higher level of
educational opportunities.
(Kiyao, 1981).
National integration means national unity or
national consensus. It is defined as the creation
of national political system supersedes or
incorporates all the regional sub systems. In other
words, Unity in diversity.

National unity is a process to unite various groups


that have different social andcultural background
into onephysical entity. For example, the effort of
uniting Sabah, Sarawak and the Peninsular of
Malaysia into a federation, is aneffort at achieving
national unity
Discussion on the
democratization of education

Democratization of education is a
process of democracy in the
education. Each individual is
provided the same opportunities
and rights to gain education and
the services provided.
In the Malaysian scenario,
primary education is
compulsory for all children from
six years oldfor a duration of
six years but which may be
completed within five to seven
years.

Children with disabilities are also given the
chance to learn through the Special
EducationSpecial Education Schools,
Special Education Integrated
Programme (SEIP) and Inclusive
Education Programme where The
Education Act 1996 and the Education
(Special Education) Regulations 2013 provide
the legal framework for education for
children with disabilities in the country,
(UNICEF, 2014).
There are various programs that
have been created by the
democratic system in the
management of schools.

These programs are convenient


and very useful for students.
Education as humanitarian response
By democratization in education, it helps to
improve and save human lives or alleviate
human suffering.

Having equal opportunity in gaining


education-gives the learners knowledge of
as individuals and by extension of those
around them.

Inaddition, by democratization in education


we can live peacefully. It is because
education is the key in achieving harmony in
any society.
Globalization in education

Through democratization in
education textbook are no longer
as an important sources of
knowledge acquisition, ICT has
become main mean of imparting
knowledge.
We (Malaysia) tend to produce quality education

Democratization encourages the


setting up of private college and
universities in line with its vision
to provide access for all qualified
students which are competence.
