Energy Saving
System selection is determined by the 100% load for both Peak heating and cooling
temperatures, therefore there is a general excess of capacity throughout the majority of the
year.
It is therefore extremely important that the performance operation of any VRF
system is at its greatest during these middle part load conditions.

Sub Cooling Heat Exchanger
There are a number of benefits to the new sub cool heat exchanger,
both in cooling and heating modes.
Cooling Operation
During cooling operation the new sub
cool heat exchanger lowers the
temperature of the liquid refrigerant,
increasing the FCU cooling capacity.
New sub cool heat exchanger allows
the system to reduce the flow of
refrigerant for the same capacity.
Increasing overall system efficiency.
Reduced flow rate and pressure
losses, allow the system to use
smaller pipe work for the suction
(gas) line , reducing the cost of the
installation
How has SMMS-e evolved to benefit me?
Sub Cooling Heat Exchanger
There are a number of benefits to the new sub cool heat exchanger,
both in cooling and heating modes.
Heating Operation
During heating operation, if conditions
permit, it is possible to use the new
sub cool heat exchanger, to inject low
pressure / temperature refrigerant into
the suction line of the compressor.
This increases suction pressures and
reduces the overall compressor
running temperatures, improving
systems efficiency and compressor
reliability.
How has SMMS-e evolved to benefit me?
Sub Cooling Heat Exchanger
The new sub-cool heat exchanger, also means less refrigerant is
needed to provide the same level of capacity and it is therefore
possible to reduce some of the refrigerant pipe sizes, reducing
installation costs.

Intelligent VRF Control
VRF Control Development
In the case of a new 8Hp SMMS-e system, there are more than 70 indoor
sensors, which the CDU can use to optimize the flow of refrigerant around all
indoor units satisfying the demands of each room individually
Intelligent VRF Control
VRF Control Development
Without intelligent VRF control, distribution of refrigerant across each indoor
unit within a building can become uneven, resulting in over capacity on some
units and low capacity on others
Over Capacity
Indoor units receive too much refrigerant,
starving the other units located further
from the outdoor.
Under Capacity
Indoor units receive too little refrigerant,
resulting in poor capacity output and room
temperature control.
Intelligent VRF Control
VRF Control Development
With intelligent VRF control, the refrigerant volume is adjusted to maintain
consistent temperature, regardless of indoor unit location

Fan OFF operation and send hot gas to the

Liquid refrigerant is then sent to the
indoor units, reducing the coil
temperature and stopping the fan
Continuous Heating
Standard Defrost Operation
The previous SMMS-i model uses the temperature of the outdoor coil,
to determine the degree of frosting on the coil. Once the temperature
falls below the trigger point the system will stop and enter into a
defrost operation, for a maximum of 12 minutes.

Continuous Heating
Continuous Heating
The new SMMS-e system incorporates a new control based on
continually monitoring the status of the outdoor coil. Once the control
senses that the outdoor coil is beginning to frost, the hot gas by-pass
operation will start, melting any frost and allowing the indoor units to
continue to heat, at a reduced capacity.

Continuous Heating
The new continuous heating operation, operates via two new solenoid
valves, which are located prior to the inlet of the main and lower heat
exchangers.
The control of these new valves (SV51 & SV52), is based on the
temperature feedback of the Te sensors and two new sensor, TG1 and
TG2. These values will control the opening time, duration of the opening
and time of closure.
