Open InDesign > Create a new document > Number of Pages:


4, Facing Pages.
Pages > use SECOND section NOT master page section
Right click on any one page and RIGHT click, un-check
allow doc pages to shuffle and rearrange the page to
get a formation of single page, single page, double page.

COLOUR
Create a new text box for your standfirst > make the text
size much smaller than the headline but bigger than the body
text.
Create your By line either in the same textbox as the
Standfirst or a separate, smaller one. Be sure to re-align the
text layout to the rightmost side.
For body text (article): New, larger text box > Fill with
Placeholder Text (thisll simply fill the textbox with random
text which allows you to format your columns).
Select the cursor tool > to create columns for your text enter
the number of columns you wish to have and your text will
reformat with columns.
Paragraph Formatting Controls

For drop cap: Textbox tool > Select the first paragraph of text where you
want the drop cap > select Paragraph Formatting Controls > Select
Drop Cap No. of Lines > enter how many lines you want your cap
to drop (how big).

FOR GRAB QUOTE: 1. Copy the section of text you wish to have as your grab quote > make
a new text box and paste that text making it larger and bolder > Select the cursor tool
> 2. wrap around object shape (this will allow you to format the grab quote into the
article fitting it in between your existing article.) > 3. you can then drag that text box to the
place in the article you want it to be.

To insert picture:
1. Place > 2. choose image > 3. once it appears drag it across the page to the size you
want as indicated by the blue box that appears > 4. whilst holding SHIFT you can resize
and move your image wherever you want (this includes in between the text).
Caption: new text box > type caption (smaller font
than body) > select cursor tool > wrap around object
shape > drag textbox below or on top of image.
Masthead: open front cover in photoshop > file > new (make sure the BACKGROUND
CONTENTS is transparent and name the document masthead) > drag the front cover
tab out until it appears on the same page as your new document > drag the
masthead across to the new document and save it > back to InDesign > file > place
> masthead doc
