ROCKET

By: Pop, Bell, Nonnie, Mhee

OBJECTIVE
Design the acid base water rocket to make it fly to the
goal accurately
METHOD
1. FIRST WE DESIGN THE ROCKET

2. WE USE THE 1.5 LITERS OF SOFT DRINK TO BE THE

BODY OF OUR ROCKET

3. WE CUT 2 PIECE OF FOAM AND STICK TOGETHER, AFTER

THAT WE USE THE SANDPAPER TO MAKE IT SHAPE LOOK
LIKE THE AERODYNAMIC WINGS

4. STICK THE WINGS TO THE ROCKET BODY

CUT THE PAPER AND FOLD IT IN CONE TO MAKE THE HEAD OF THE
ROCKET

5. STICK THE CLAY INSIDE THE PAPER TO INCREASE THE WEIGHT OF THE
HEAD OF THE ROCKET

7. TAPE IT ON THE BODY OF THE ROCKET

8. TO BUILT THE LAUNCHER WE USE THE WOOD TO MAKE IT

METHOD (CON.)
9. We pour the vinegar into the rocket

10.We use the tissue paper to roll the baking soda because it will slow down
the time that baking soda will react with vinegar, so we have time to close the
bottle by using the cork-wine

11.After that set the rocket on the launcher and wait it till the gas full and blow
up the rocket to fly
MATERIAL
Plastic bottle Vinegar

Tape Baking soda

Spray colors Cork wine

Foam Cutter

Glue Ruler

Newspaper Sand paper

Wood Future board

marker scissor
MASS/ VOLUME OF THE
ROCKET
Weight of the rocket: 88.98 grams

Length/ hight: lenght; 22 cm. hight; 40.2 cm.

Amount of vinegar: 125 miligrams

Amount of baking soda: 20 grams

Launcher: 45 degrees
CONCEPT OF THIS ROCKET

Increase the pressure in the bottle by using acid and

base to produce a gas

Increase the potential energy of the bottom

Release the gas to make it fly

Using aerodynamic wings to make the rocket take

more air time
AERODYNAMIC WINGS

Top of the wings have less pressure than the lower

surface of the wings

Top of the wings the wind move faster

Pressure involve from the under of the wings is

greater than the top one
CHEMICAL REACTION

Acid mix with Base

Acid: Substance that produce H+

Base: Substance that produce OH-

Produce Gas CO2

ROUND 1

No wings

Distance: 15 meters

Amount of baking soda: 40 grams

Amount of vinegar: 400 millilitres

ANALYZE THE RESULT: ROUND
1
Fail

Too much vinegar

5 meters to go

no wings

no head

less baking soda

ROUND II

Have wings

Distance: 5 meters

Amount of baking soda: 40 grams

Amount of vinegar: 400 milliliters

ANALYZE THE RESULT
ROUND II
Fail

The vinegar and baking soda leak out

Used wine stopper instead of cork

FINAL ROUND

Weight of the rocket: 88.98 grams

Amount of baking soda: 20 grams

Amount of vinegar:125 milligrams

Distance:35 meters
ANALYSE THE RESULT OF
THE FINAL ROUND
Fail

Attach the wing and head

The rocket launch farther than the goals

ANALYSIS
-Our rocket go farther than the goal because of new
mass of the rocket and new wings

-Our aerodynamic wings is fail when we launch it

-Sometime wind blow our rocket, so it cannot reach

the goal

-We have a lot of error

CONCLUSION
Our experiment of our rocket project is failed. There
are many factor that causes error on our experiment
such as our wing is unbalanced and the head is too
dull and the launcher that is not 45 degree angles.
Then later we rebuild the base and rocket it's flew
better and straight but we still unable to hit the
target. If we have more time to shoot the rocket we
think we will be able to hit the target because our
rocket if able to fly nicely.
Thank you
