Rabindranath Tagore was an icon of Indian culture.

Born on 7th May 1861 in India.

He was famous writer, poet, polymath philosopher,

musician and educationist.

He won Noble prize in literature for Gitanjali in 1913 and

he was first Asian to won.

In 1901 he started Shantiniketan school and In 1921 he

established he established Viswabharathi University.
Two songs from his canon are new the national anthems of
India and Bangladesh

 He was awarded Knighthood by the British King George V.

When he visited London during 1912 he met William Rothenstein

a noted British Painter. Rothenstein was very impressed about his
poets.

In 1940 Oxford university awarded him Doctorate of Literature.
