NATIONAL PRIDE

There is no passion more

universal than pride. It prevades
all orders of society:from the
thrones to the cottage.
National pride means being
proud of your own country or
proud of yourself for being from
your country.
It means being proud and happy
of being a citizen of that country.
FORMS
It can take on the form of defending
your country in times of need.
Standing by the country even in

difficult times.
It can also take on another form of

national supremacy, as in
considering oneself or ones ethnic
or political group to be of great or
greatest pride.
NATIONAL ADVANTAGES
National advantages are either
imaginary or real.
In former case, when a nation
unjustly pretends to the possession
of great advantage, its pride is
arrogance.
In the latter, the pride arising from
the consciousness of possessing
greater worth than others.
FEATURES OF NATIONAL PRIDE
Sense of pride and patriotism.
Importance of discipline and
hard work.
Integrity and accountability.
NATIONALISM VS PATRIOTISM
There is a distinct difference between
nationalism and patriotism.
Patriotism is love for once country, but
accepting that it has its faults,
Nationalism on the other hand is the
love of once nation above everything ,
even our own humanity, above morality,
and sometimes above common sense.
IMPORTANCE OF NATIONAL PRIDE

I like to see a man proud of the place in which he

lives. I like to see a man live so that his place will be
proud of him ~Abraham Lincoln
National pride surges when major athletic events are
happening or when Independence Day comes around.
We expect that Virat Kohli, Saina Nehwal, Sania Mirza
and other people will do well and we cannot help but
reflect on the contributions of our forefathers to nation
building on Independence Day. However, what
concerns me is the fact that national pride sharply
declines when these events pass.
NATIONAL PRIDE can be viewed as a form of personal
development. This can be seen by highlighting the
following points:
FIRST POINT
Where there is unity there is strength

In the recent roadshow by PM Narendra Modi in the

Varanasi region, the unity amongst the Kaashi people
was worth watching. Although, this was a part of the
election campaign, gathering of people to bring the
common change was spectacular. The unity that is
present in these few moments is something I believe
we should have in every facet of life. That camaraderie
and dedication to the greater good of the country can
only help to make the nation better. When we inject
some hope into our country and stop the negativity we
end up injecting some positivity in our own lives.
SECOND POINT
Bringing hope to the nation can inspire people to do
great things

We depend on our political leaders to give the country

direction and work in the best interest of the poor. Although a
lot of things cannot fall into place until this is done, I also
believe that we each have a responsibility to have a spirit of
hope for the country. So many people walk around with a chip
on their shoulders because they think the country is doomed.
Why dont we instead think of what we can do to bring hope to
the country? Are there any community projects that we could
get involved in that can make a difference in peoples lives?
When we learn to be positive and give more of ourself to
others there is no doubt that the greatest reward we will feel
is the satisfaction we get of knowing that we have made a
difference.
THIRD POINT
Represent your country well

Wherever I go in the world I will always be an

Indian. People respond to the way we treat them
and speak about our country. If we treat people
harshly or only have negative things to say about
our country then that will leave a bad impression
on peoples minds of India. If we are more positive
then there is a great possibility that someone we
meet will want to visit India therefore increasing
the countrys tourism income. These small things
make a world of difference.

SYMBOLS DATE BACK TO PAGAN
RELIGIONS AND ANCIENT
PRACTICES ACROSS CULTURES.
NATIONAL SYMBOLS ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO
NATIONAL IDENTITY. THE IMPORTANCE OF NATIONAL
SYMBOLS CAN VARY, DEPENDING ON THE STRENGTH,
HISTORY, AND POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT OF THE
NATION. HOWEVER, SYMBOLS ARE EASILY
IDENTIFIED, AND ARE USED TO "DIRECT AND
ORGANIZE, RECORD AND COMMUNICATE."
NATIONAL SYMBOLS ARE EASILY RECOGNIZED
ENTITIES THAT ARE USED AS MEANS TO
COMMUNICATE THE HISTORY AND CULTURE OF A
PARTICULAR NATION. THESE SYMBOLS CAN BE USED
TO INSTILL PRIDE AND UNITY IN A NATION'S
POPULATION. NATIONAL SYMBOLS CAN BE A SINGLE
ENTITY, SUCH AS THE EIFFEL TOWER, AN EASILY
REPRODUCED ITEM SUCH AS A NATION'S FLAG, OR

AS WELL AS SYMBOLS USED BY

EG- THE MOUNTAINKRIV- ONE OF THE

UNOFFICIAL SYMBOLS OFSLOVAKIA.
FACT
The official logo of the NFL (NATIONAL
FOOTBALL LEAGUE) is red, white, and blue,
featuring white stars on a blue background, in a
similar design to the American flag.
Similarly, both MLB(MAJOR LEAGUE
BASEBALL) and the NBA (NATIONAL
BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION)invoke the
national symbolism of the United States with
official emblems that prominently display the
colors of the U.S. flag.
NATIONAL FLAG-
THE TRUE
SYMBOL OF
NATIONAL PRIDE.
As being an indian, our tricolor flag with the
chakra is known as Tiranga is our national
pride and it is same for all whether they are
soliders in siachen or the proud players bring
victory to the country .As it represents the hopes
and aspirations of an emerging India. There is
universal affection ,loyalty and respect to the
national flag.It optimises the struggles of lakhs of
people who sacrifice their lives for freedom. It
inspires thousands of indians to raise their voice
to revolt against British raj.
Our national flag was first hoisted on 7
august 1906 in Parsee Bagan Square,in
Calcutta.In 1916 Mahatma Gandhi
suggested to incorporate a chakra- the
traditional spinning wheel in the middle
of the flag as the symbol of economic
regenration of India. In tricolor the top
saffron band represents the courage and
strength of country.,the middle white
band repesents peace and truth while
the bottom green colour represents the
fertility, growth and auspiciousness of
land.
So at last national pride is
what makes individuals
proud of their nation.National
pride is the longetivity of
national identity.National
pride reflects deep,
historically rooted societal
conventions which take time
to emerge.
