Antenna Gain
Content
City area

Antennas with 65 horizontal BW and 6~10 vertical

BW are often adopted, and the antenna gain is
between 15~18 dBi.

Rural area

Antennas with 65 or 90 horizontal BW and 5~7

vertical BW are applicable, and the gain of antenna
is between 15~18 dBi
City Water Surface (Large Lake, Ocean),
Gobi and Desert
Antennas with 90 or 105 horizontal BW and 5~7
vertical BW can be selected.

Long and Narrow Coverage Areas such

as Highways, Railways, etc.

Antennas with 20~30 horizontal BW and 5~7

vertical BW can be used.

To decrease the quantity of antennas

To simplify antenna installation

To cut down engineering cost

To reduce antenna occupation

For better network optimization

Larger Antenna Gain
Larger Antennas Gain means further covering
distance.

Less handoff area

Less handoff area is better for decreasing interfering

area

Better for network optimization

China Unicom
In the first stage of CDMA Construction for China
Unicom, in certain cities of China, 90 horizontal BW
antennas were used at first.

However, when RF optimization is in progress,

serious interference in handoff areas could not be
solved, as a result, all the antennas were replaced
by 65 horizontal BW antennas.
Content
3 buildings are needed for each site
The network planning engineer will order the 3 sites
by how much the building is suitable.

No serious obstruction opposite to the sector

orientation.

The sector orientation can be treated as 0, 120 and

240, which is north, southeast and southwest.
Height of the candidate site
The For a site in an dense urban and urban area, its
antenna should be mounted 10~15 meters higher
than its surroundings(SRD); and in a suburban and
rural area, the site antenna should be 15-25 meters
higher than its SRD.

The building of the height more or less as the

surroundings can be acceptable, if no better suitable
building can be found.
Range of the candidate site from planned
site
The distance between the actual and planned
site locations should not exceed 150 meters in
Dense Urban and Urban, and 450 meters in
Suburban and Rural.
The site should not beside the main road.

Interference avoiding
The planned site will not interfere with other
telecommunications systems, or although there
exists mutual interference between the site and
other systems, the interference can be eliminated
through effective measures.
The equipment room, transmission
resources and power supply are available at
the planned site.
