Steps in Conducting

Assessment

CACO 1 TESDA
STEP 1
Establish the context and purpose of
assessment

The assessor must:

Familiarize self with the Qualification or


UCs to be assessed
Ensure that the assessment site
complies with the relevant OHS
requirements.
Ensure that assessment resources are
available

Plan and prepare the evidence gathering
process

The assessor shall

Receive ASSESSMENT PACKAGE composed of


the following from the TESDA Representative:

One copy of Assessors Guide and Assessment


Guide (for selected Qualifications)

Plan and prepare the evidence gathering
process

Copies of the following corresponding to the


number of candidates:
1. Specific Instruction to the Candidate
2. Rating Sheet (according to the methods of
assessment to be used e.g., Demonstration
with oral questioning and Written Test)
3. Competency Assessment Results Summary (CARS)

STEP 3
Prepare the candidate

The assessor shall -

Check attendance and identity of candidates and


collect Admission Slips
Instruct the candidates to sign on the Attendance
Sheet
Conduct orientation to candidates

STEP 4
Collect the evidence and make the
assessment decision
The assessor shall:
Provide the candidates with all the materials,
tools and equipment required to complete the
tasks
Provide each candidate a copy of the Specific
Instructions to the Candidate
Conduct assessment in accordance with the
methodologies specified in the Evidence Plan
and the Specific Instructions for the Competency
Assessor

Collect the evidence and make the assessment
decision

implement the evidence gathering process and


ensure its validity, reliability, fairness and
flexibility
Observe the candidate and keep notes of unusual
conditions or situation during the entire conduct
of assessment
Collect appropriate evidence and match
compatibility to the elements, performance
criteria, range of variables and evidence guide in
the relevant units of competency

Collect the evidence and make the assessment
decision

Judge the evidence in terms of the


dimensions of competency task skills, task
management skills, contingency management skills
and job/role environment skills
Judge the evidence in terms of validity,
consistency, currency, recency, authenticity, and
sufficiency (portfolio/documents)
Record on Rating Sheets details of evidence
collected and judgment made about the
candidates performance

STEP 5
Provide feedback on the assessment

The assessor must provide candidate about the


outcomes of the assessment process. This includes:
clear and constructive feedback on the
assessment decision
information on ways of overcoming any identified
gaps in competency revealed by the
assessment
the opportunity to discuss the assessment
process and outcome
information on reassessment process, if
required

Record and report the result

The assessor shall:

Record the assessment outcome


Ensure Rating Sheets are signed by the candidate after
providing feedback
Accomplish the CARS
maintain records of the assessment procedures, evidence
collected and assessment outcome
Submit to CAC Manager assessment reports (Rating
sheets, accomplished Attendance Sheets, Admission
Slips, CARS)
Sign RWAC

submitted to relevant people

performance
Issuance of COCs in area/s with satisfactory
performance, when applicable

The assessor must provide candidate about the
