DEFORESTATION

And Wildlife
Depletion
Deforestation
Deforestation is the full or
large scale removal of a
forest, or area of tress, in
order to clear land for
human development.

Deforestation is the direct

or indirect human-induced
conversion of forested land
to non-forested land
Causes of
Deforestation
1. Kaingin
Farming
The vast old-growth forests
that once covered much of
the world have largely been
cut and burned down
because of agriculture.
. Illegal logging
Characterized by cutting
trees without having permit
or any documents that
would legitimate the said
operation.
3. Conversion of agricultural
lands to housing projects
With increased population
numbers also comes
increased urbanization
which brings with it further
impetus for deforestation,
and also a number of other
negative influences
4. Forest fires
Another example would be
forest blazes; Hundreds of
trees are lost each year due to
forest fires in various portions
of the world. This happens due
to extreme warm summers
and milder winters. Fires,
whether causes by man or
nature results in huge loss of
forest cover.
5. Typhoons

Extremely large, powerful,

and destructive storm that
destroys various portions of
forest.
EFFECTS
1. Increase in Global Warming
Trees play a major role in
controllingglobal warming.
The trees utilize the
green house gases, restoring
the balance in the
atmosphere. With constant
deforestation the ratio of
green house gases in the
atmosphere has increased,
2. Soil Erosion
Also due to the shade of trees
the soil remains moist. With
the clearance of tree cover, the
soil is directly exposed to the
sun, making it dry.
3. Floods:
When it rains, trees absorb
and store large amount of
water with the help of their
roots. When they are cut
down, the flow of water is
disrupted and leads to floods
in some areas and droughts in
other.
Wildlife Depletion
massive number of species extinctions
disappearance of wildlife
species.

If animals cannot find

enough
space, many will die or
become extinct.

Some species may become

endangered, or in the
verge of
Causes for the depletion of
wildlife are as follows
The largest scale killing of
animals for food, trade and
pleasure is one of the many
causes for the depletion of
wildlife. We may need to kill
animals, but we cannot do so
thoughtlessly.
Deforestation destroys the
habitat of animals,
endangering their survival.
