THEMES
Neglect, abandonment and
rejection
All objects whether animate or inanimate have
feelings and should be treated with care, love
and respect.
Today, people have become careless and
indifferent. They thoughtlessly throw away old
and unwanted things and neglect people.
Inanimate things have no voice but they want to
be useful and valued again. The old, infirm and
disabled are voiceless but they have feelings too
and want to be part of a living, thriving, vibrant
society
The importance of recycling
In our modern thrown away society, it is all too
easy to eliminate waste and old, unwanted,
unused things.
However, some of these objects can be reused
or recycled.
Thus, new or refashioned/recreated items can
be produced, sold and reused in a different form.
The poem encourages recycling which is helpful
to our modern world of waste and destruction.

MORAL VALUES
Love, compassion and
kindness

We must be kind and compassionate to

others whether they are animate or
inanimate.
Everyone and everything around us has
some use. They have served us according
to their nature and make.
Hence, we must treat the person or thing
with love, compassion and kindness when
it is old, hurt or less attractive and useful.
Respect
We must respect and recognise
the past service (and sacrifice) of
the things we own and used.
It is not right to carelessly
abandon or neglect them when
they have outlived their utility or
lost their beauty.
Responsibility
In an age of environment
destruction, it is imperatives that
we be responsible for preserving
what is left of Mother Nature.
We must be vigilant and
accountable for how we treat our
household waste and items or
people who are in need
Public Spirit
We must take an active interest
in important social issues like the
need to preserve our air, land
and water, including our senior
citizens. If we come forward and
raise awareness, others will be
influenced to act positively as
well.
