HOW DID YOU

ATTRACT/ADDRESS
YOUR AUDIENCE?
EVALUATION 5.)
WHO IS MY AUDIENCE?
My audience would age between 13-20 due to the younger model being relatable to the audience. Typically I believe my
magazine would appeal most to the female audience as the model I have used is female again making it more relatable to
the audience. If I was to describe my audience members a female audience would be very fashionable, up to date with the
new fashion thats coming out. They would be more likely to wear popular branded clothing; Nike, Adidas, top shop, river
island, Levis and supreme. They would also be interested in fashionable shoes such as air max and Nike shoes. They would
be very fashionable and have a good taste in clothing.
I dont think my magazine would attract the male audience as much as it would attract the female audience as I believe it
would be less relatable to them. Although I think some of the male audience will still be attracted to the magazine. The male
audience that will be attracted to my magazine are again in the same age range 13-20 and have an interest in fashionable
clothing as well. They will most likely be wearing jeans with a designer top and a jacket.
The audience will be interested in artists such as;
Justin Bieber
Ariana Grande
Years and years
Craig David
Clean bandit
The audience will also be interested in concerts such as Summertime ball and world tours from the artists listed above. The
audience will have a sense of community being together and a part of the fan base connecting them to the magazine.
WHAT ON THE MAGAZINE ATTRACTED
THEM TO IT? (COVER PAGE)
The front cover of my magazine is very appealing to the female audience as it features a
female model making it more relatable to the audience. This will therefore draw them into the
magazine, and make them want to read it more as they feel they have something in common
with the model. The use of her clothing will also draw the female audience in as the off the
shoulder top is quite fashionable in todays industry. She also features long straight brown hair
thats shiny and slick back behind her ear making her seem simple and elegant again appealing
to the female audience. The model could appeal to the male audience due to her revealing a
little more skin on the shoulders therefore sexualising her. She is a pretty young women and the
male audience may find her attractive therefore wanting to know more about her.
The title of the magazine would also attract the audience to the magazine as it if an edgy easy
to read and noticeable title. I chose to have the title and text in a sans serif font as I thought
this made it look more professional, applied to the audience and the genre of the magazine. If I
was to make the text serif it would make the magazine seem like a rock magazine, therefore
attracting the wrong type of audience not giving the magazine much publicity and views.
I also used lighter coloured puffs and bars at the side and bottom of the front page making the
magazine cover stand out more. The colours have been colour coordinated throughout the
magazine making it a theme throughout. I also made the puff and bar this colour as I thought it
went best with the magazine and would appeal most to the audience.
(CONTENT PAGE)
The content page of the magazine keeps the same theme as the front cover page. I
have used the same model throughout the magazine to keep the reader interested in
the article. I have this time used her looking directly at the camera making it a direct
mode of address. It means that she is inviting the reader into the magazine making
them want to know more about her and what's inside the magazine. I have used
bolder head lines on the content page making the title of the page stand out to the
reader. Certain parts of the title like Drake are in capitals, bold lettering and
different colours to make it stand out to the reader more and make them want to
read about the article. The use of the bright bold image of the concert at the bottom
of the page may also invite the reader into the magazine as they would be interested
in the concerts advertised in the magazine. This may also make them want to read
more about the latest concerts, where to get tickets and what to expect.
I slant the title of the page making it again look more edgy and eye acting to the
reader. I also made the letters jumbled up in different rows to create something
different on the magazine. I feel this helped attract the audience as they liked the
new appealing way to present the title in a sans serif text keeping the theme.
I also used some social media sights in the top left corner of the magazine, where it
can be found of social sights like snap chat, Facebook and Instagram. This will appeal
to my audience as they are of a younger generation and use these sights daily
making it easy for them to know more about the magazine and receive digital
copies.
(CENTRE SPREAD)

For the centre spread of the magazine I kept the same

theme of the blue background but made it lighter making
the text more visible to the reader and also putting the
reader in a better mood due to the use of the lighter blue.
I used the same purple for the title of the spread as I did
for the cover puff and content bold text. I have again used
a image of the model looking at the camera drawing the
reader in. This will make the reader seem as if the model
is inviting the audience into the magazine.
The use of the puff carried from the front page to the
centre spread of the magazine will draw the reader to
view this due to the big bold lettering of WIN WIN WIN
This will make the reader, read more about the
competition and be more likely to enter
I also belief the little quotations from the model will be
attractive to the reader as they will have physical
evidence of what the model is pleased about and how
much she loves her fans.
AUDIENCE/ PEER ASSESSMENT (COVER
PAGE)
When asking people for their advice and what they like about the magazine I asked a selection of ages from my
audience ranges. the mostly had the same ideas about what they liked and disliked about the pages in the magazine
Front cover: When asked about the front cover of the magazine most of the audience said they liked the colour
scheme I used. One individual commented on the blue background saying that it makes the model stand out more
and the text bolder and more in your face on the page. they also commented on the magazine being quite simple
and not having an overwhelming feel to it at first gaze. they suggested that this gave the magazine a professional feel
to it making it seem simple yet effective. They also commented on the placement of the model being effective against
the content lines and giving the magazine enough space between the model, content lines and the puff.
the things to improve on would be the photo shop of the model, making the cutting of the image neater and more
precise getting closer to the edges of the models head, face and hair, making it seem more professional and better
edited. They also commented on how the stars and date line are hard to see and notice because of the font being so
small making it difficult for them to see or notice this at a first glance.
I could improve these things easily with a little work on Photoshop through the use of the lasso or magic wand tool to
get a neater straighter line cut on the model and her features. I would also make the font of the writing bigger and use
bold or italic text to make the line stand out more on the page.

CENTRE SPREAD
Centre spread: The audience commented on the layout of the text and image making it seem professional and have a
well structured balance to the magazine. They also said the columns fit well in a pattern of three on the page not
being cut off by the fold in the double page down the middle of the magazine. The little winning box and additional
information box appealed to the audience swell due to the colour scheme being kept throughout the magazine. It
also has a bold WIN WIN WIN in capital letters immediate standing out to the reader making their eyes instantly
drawn to this. this therefor means they are more likely to read it and enter the competition. They also commented on
the placement of the model being very strategic to the right side the magazine making it spacious and create room
for the text.
The improvements to be made would be the colour of the text, as I have used white and black they are of opposite
ends of the spectrum making them stand out more against each other. An audience member did not like the way I
had contrasted the two colours explains that it takes the attention away from the model and feel of the magazine.
They also commented on the magazine title being less visible and not as easy to see due to the colour I have used.
they explained that the title didn't immediately pop out to you when first looking at the spread of the magazine.
To improve theses things would be very simple. I would just have to change the colour of the text trying a few
different colour to see what worked best for the overall view of the page. This could be easily done through
Photoshop or indesign.
WHAT I ADDED TO THE FINAL DESIGN OF
THE PAGES IN THE MAGAZINE (TEACHER
ASSESSMENT.)
For the front cover of the magazine I didn't change much to the final design. The most dramatic things I
changed where the font of the title and cover lines and the bottom bar of advertisement. I had asked
my teacher Alan for his advice on the cover and what I could do to improve, he said to make the
magazine cover better I would suggest changing the text to sans serif as it will make the magazine title
stand out more. This therefore meant that I changed to tittle of the cover making it into sans serif text
taking on board the advice Alan had given me.
For the content page I also asked for Alans advice and he suggested adding some media pictures on
the page letting the reader know that the magazine will be available on social media sights and they
will be able to access the magazine online.
When looking at the centre spread page I changed a lot on this to make it better and appeal to the
audience more. I changed the layout of the double spread so that the separation of the pages wouldn't
cut out the image in the middle of the page. I also added more text to the page from the interview
giving the reader more insight into the model. I feel I made the centre spread of the magazine more
visual to the reader and made them want the title stand out more on the page as well.
