INTRODUCTION
What mean HRM??
-HRM is proceess of staffing,training appraisal and compensating employees and
attending to their labor relations,safety and health concerns.
7 funtions which are:
-Human resources planning
- Recruitment selection
-Human resources development
-Performance appraisal
-Compensation and benefits
-Safety and health
-employee and lanor relation
*Based on Hurricane Ritaattack :
-we will found the effect of external environment cause by Hurricane Rita attack
such as competition,economy.
-We also disscusshow human resources funtionaffected Hurricane Rita attack
1. Which external environment factor(s) did
Hurricane Rita affect? Discuss.
Labour market becomes limited.
- Walmart remaining in the area open 24 hours store, they had shuttle to pick up
their employees and drop them off at home because they did not have enough
workers available in the local area and stay open on certain schedule.
Legal consideration and requirement.
- Most of the workers will join the Trade Union under their company to make
sure about their safety assurance.
Competition.
- Employees compete to get high salary and more benefits meanwhile the
employer compete to get workers and run their business again.
Economy.
- They only can fixed their economy and buy the things they need with working.
2. How were the human resource functions
affected by Hurricane Rita?
Recruitment and Selection.
- HR department need to recruiting and attracting the people on a timely basis, in
a sufficient numbers, and with appropriate qualifications, to apply for jobs to the
organization.

Human resource development.


- HR department need to spend more money and time to designing and
implementing training programs to their worker.

Compensation and Benefits.


-HR department should designing and implementing compensation and benefit
system for their employees.
3. Do you believe the HR situations described regarding
Hurricane Rita would be typical in a disaster? Explain.

Yes.
- I believe that the HR situations described would be typical in disaster. This is
because they already used to the situations but depends on the level of destruction.
To solve the same problems, the HR will comes out with better plans to face it in
future. With a better strategy, HR will solve the problems they face previously
properly with professional methods and they need to think about others problems
that might occur too because different disaster will have different effects and the
community routines also lifestyle will change due to the level of disaster that occur.

HR need to do the critical thinking to face this kind of situations to be more prepared .
