As the negative ideologies of youth & the idea of a Broken Britain have
become the norm, easy to put events like the riots down to very broad
ideas. The REAL social issues arent identified (like poverty and
lack of social mobility) and therefore never dealt with.

Society has become obsessed with demonising youth and this has led to
implementation of harsher penalties. These widen the generation
gap and create a climate of fear and mistrust. It was this that
caused the initial rioting in London (distrust of police, behaviour
of police).

Negative stereotyping in the media has led to fear, even among the same
age group. Not surprising considering the trend of Hoodie cinema where
teenagers are horror monsters violence so shocking and extreme.
