MODAL VERBS
DEFINITION
Modals are special verbs which behave
very irregularly in English. In
English grammar, amodalis averbthat
combines with another verb to indicate
moodortense. A modal (also known as
amodal auxiliaryormodal verb) expresses
necessity, uncertainty, willingness, ability,
or permission.
