CHAPTER IV ISSUES / CONSTRAINTS and RESOLUTION

CHAPTER V CONCLUSION
Background Of Research :
1. Bandwidth demand is increasing.
2. Fiber-optic technology that continues to grow.
3. Quality of optical fiber used must meet the standard needs of consumers.
4. Needed a system that controls the quality of fiber in the production of optical
fiber.
1. Enhance professional attitudes of students to enter the world of work in
accordance.
2. Increase new knowledge and experience in the working world, especially in
the field of telecommunications.
3. Expected to understand and apply the knowledge / lessons learned from
the campus or from supervising the field.
4. Themselves for students to know the atmosphere of the workplace
environment
Activity in the QC is performed during the
period of PKL
In this report author PKL limit the scope of
the problem or writing on matters concerning
:
1. Discuss about activities performed during
the period of PKL at PT. Furukawa.
Furukawa was established in May 2001 and is the largest
fiber optic company in Indonesia. The company had
assets of about 5.5 million U.S. dollars, and 100% of its
shares currently owned by Furukawa Electric. Furukawa
has very good credibility in the production of fiber optic
cable in Indonesia and southeast asia.

1. Measurement Attenuation
Tools needed to measure Attenuation include:
1.OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer)
2.Pig Tail
3.Coating Stripper
4.Alkohol and Tissue
Tools and Materials:
1.PK s18
2.Pig tail
3.Fiber cleaver
4.Coating stripper
5. Conector
6. Alcohol and Tissue
1.Torsion Tester (Cable will be rotated 360 degrees with torsion
machine tester)
2.Impact Tester (Fiber Optic Cable will be ground with a specific load)
3.Bending Tester (tester cycling will play for 180 degrees of fiber
optic cable)
4.Crush Tester (fiber optic cable will be a force of 2200 N for 30
minutes)
1. High Attenuation
2. Loss of signal
3. Bending
1. Fiber Optic cable is the transmission medium that has a very high speed and can used
to build the back bone network.
2. Parameters that affect the quality of optical fiber include: attenuation, dispersion,
PMD, and MFD.
3. Needed a Quality Control / Assurance for Hereinafter producing fiber optic cable so
that resulting quality is very good.
4. Necessary steps are appropriate to deal with fiber optic cable that has problem when
the production process going on, so the production cost can be reduced as small as
possible.
