OPENING STATEMENT
I am JaQuan Buffaloe, a first-year economics major minoring in
Leadership Studies. This course has taught me a lot more than the
difference between various leadership theories. In this course I
learned new social skills and things about myself that I may have
never learned had I not been in this class. I learned that all my top 5
strengths fall under the Executing tier, which explains why I am always
so obsessed with finding a way to get things finished. I learned the
different stages that groups go through and so much more. Great
course that taught me so much.
SECTION 1
SELF LEADERSHIP

6. Student will express HDF 190 Varsity Football Recently in class we did a group exercise where
a personal code of we had to decide on who deserved a spot on the
leadership / shuttle when the world was about to end. I was a
membership ethics slightly older foreign woman that was a teacher.
In this exercise ethics came into play considering
the different situations of each person. Senior
year I was the captain of my varsity team. I had a
big game where I scored 4TDs before the 4 th

quarter started and we had a big lead. There was

a kid who had yet to play in a game yet and I had
the opportunity to stay in the game and break the
record or give this guy a chance to play. I
managed to break the record and coach got him
in the game.
SECTION 2
Leadership Theory and Models

2 Student will describe Campus Cleanup With my Slytherin group I walked around
7. personal application campus cleaning up litter to enhance the
of the above theory appearance of my campus and to set a good
(Greenleaf) example. Instead of waiting on someone else to
clean up or asking others to do it, I decided to go
out and get my hands dirty. I was a servant
before a leader in this matter.
SECTION 3
Inclusive Leadership / Diversity and its application to leadership

8 Student will create a HDF 190 When it comes to inclusive leadership I plan to
3. personal code of give every group member a fair chance to
inclusive leadership contribute to the group. I will listen to all
suggestions and consider all options before
making executive decisions. I made this code
because I feel it is necessary to incorporate
inclusive leadership methods into your style.
SECTION 4
Critical Thinking

Student will JCLC(Junior Cadet The three main principles of critical thinking I look to
show Leadership Course) would be thoroughness(how well and inclusive you
knowledge are to all parts of the problem), adequate and factual
of knowledge(proper conclusions cannot be made with
principles false evidence),and Finding hidden assumptions and
of critical biases(pieces of the puzzle that may not be obvious).
thinking
(logic is
used in this
minor)
SECTION 5
(Interpersonal and Organizational Concepts and Skills )

1 Student will HDF I use active listening on a daily basis by being

0 describe examples 190 quiet and keeping my eyes on coach during
of using active instruction periods. (professors as well). Also I
0 listening skills can exemplify my active listening by repeating
. key points that were said, proper posture and
interaction. Active listening should be used
anytime there is something to be learned.
